Hey, guys! Today is a special day. Why? You may ask; well, I will present to you the newest talent on the spotlight. Her name is Ary Hill and this young 20 year old girl, was born in Mayagüez, Puerto Rico and is currently participating in America’s Got Talent. I got the opportunity to interview her, so, you’ll get to hear about her first on my blog. She’s so sweet, extremely talented, and she was so kind to make an special performance exclusively for my readers. So, without any further ado, I present to you: Ary Hill.
¡Hola, chicos! Hoy es un día especial. ¿Porqué? Debes estar preguntándote, bueno, yo les voy a presentar el nuevo talento en el ‘Spotlight’. Su nombre es Ary Hill y esta joven chica de 20 años nació en Mayagüez, Puerto Rico y actualmente está participando en el concurso America’s Got Talent. Tuve la oportunidad de entrevistarla, para que escuches sobre ella primero en mi blog. Ella es súper dulce, talentosa y fue tan amable que hizo una presentación especial, exclusivamente para mis lectores. Así que sin más preámbulos, les presento a: Ary Hill.
1. When did you started singing? / ¿Cuándo empezaste a cantar?
“I started singing around the age of 4”.
“Comencé a cantar al rededor de los 4 años.”
2. What was the first song that you sang? /¿Cuál fue la primera canción que cantaste?
“‘Flor sin retoño’ by Charlie Zaa. My mom told me that I used to sing that song every day. Hahaha!”
“Flor sin retoño de Charlie Zaa. Mi mamá me cuenta que me pasaba cantándola todos los días. ¡Jajaja! ”
3. Who is your biggest inspiration? / ¿Quién es tu mayor inspiración?
“Mick Jagger because I learned to love the performance with him, and to use my creativity to cheer up the crowd. Also, everytime I listen to Bruce Springsteen, I get encouraged to tell my experiences through songs. It’s because his lyrics are so beautiful. I saw in a documentary that he always brings with him a notepad to write down everything that comes to his mind, anytime. I admire them so much!”.
“Mick Jagger porque con él he aprendido a disfrutarme el “performance” y a usar mi creatividad para animar al público. También siempre que escucho a Bruce Springsteen me animo a contar mis experiencias a través de canciones. Esto es porque sus letras son tan buenas. En un documental vi que anda con una libreta para escribir todo lo que le llegue a la mente, cuando sea. ¡Los admiro mucho!”
4. What other things do you like to do? / ¿Qué otras cosas te gustan hacer?
“I love to read! I love literature and everything that has to do with romance. I also love to draw, I find it helps to ease the stress that I may have after a long studio session”.
“¡Me encanta leer! Amo la literatura y todo lo que tenga que ver con romance. También me gusta dibujar, encuentro que ayuda a aliviar el estrés que puedo tener después de una sesión larga en el estudio.”
5. Do you come from a family of musicians or artists? / ¿Vienes de una familia de músicos o artistas?
“I remember that my grandpa played the harmonica and the accordion; but not other member of my family is related with music, even if they love it”.
“Recuerdo que mi abuelito tocaba la armónica y el acordeón; pero ningún otro miembro de mi familia se relaciona con la música, aunque les encante.”
6. Celeb crushes. / Artistas que te gusten.
“Ryan Gosling, of course! ❤️”
“¡Ryan Gosling, por supuesto! ❤ ”
7. Favorite singers? / ¿Cantantes favoritos?
“Lately, I’ve been listening to Patsy Cline almost every day. Her voice and vibrato are hypnotizing!”.
“Últimamente he estado escuchando a Patsy Cline casi todo el día. ¡Su tono y vibrato me hipnotizan!”
8. What instruments do you play? / ¿Cuáles instrumentos tocas?
“When I was 14 years old, I started playing the piano and the guitar when I was 16. When I go to the beach, I like to bring my Ukulele. Haha!”.
“A los 14 años comencé a tocar piano y a los 16 comencé a tocar guitarra. Cuando voy a la playa me gusta llevarme mi ukulele. ¡Jaja!”
9. When did you realized that you wanted to dedicate to music? / ¿Cuándo supiste que te querías dedicar a la música?
“At the age of 9, I sang for the first time in front of a crowd in the school patio. My hands and legs were shaking, but when I saw the crowd’s reaction, I got excited and thought to myself: “I love to do this!” That’s how I got obsessed with music and I kept growing as a singer”.
“A los 9 años, canté por primera vez frente a un público en el patio de la escuela. Las manos y piernas me temblaban, pero cuando vi la reacción del público, me emocioné y pensé: “¡Amo hacer esto!” Así que me obsesioné con la música y seguí creciendo como cantante.”
10. Talk to me about your music and artistic style. / Háblame de tu estilo de música y artístico.
“It’s hard to categorize my style in only one music genre, because I love Soul, Blues, R&B, Funk and Motown. It’s a mix of everything with a touch of Pop.”
“Es difícil colocar mi estilo en un solo género musical, pues me encanta el Soul, Blues, R&B, Funk y Motown. Es una mezcla de todo eso con una chispa de pop.”
11. Do you write your own music? / ¿Escribes tus propias canciones?
“I think that when I was 15 years old, started my interest for writing music; but I didn’t take it seriously until about a year ago, when I started composing with my musical partner, Gabriel Quintana, who has taught me a lot”.
“Creo que cuando tenía 15 años comenzó mi interés por escribir canciones, pero no me lo tomaba tan en serio, hasta hace poco más de un año, cuando comencé a componer con mi compañero musical, Gabriel Quintana, quien me ha enseñado muchísimo.”
12. With what artist, would you like to do a duet? / ¿Con cuál artista te gustaría hacer un dueto?
“With the singer from the Artic Monkeys, Alex Turner. It may seem random, but I love his voice!”
“Con el cantante de los Arctic Monkeys, Alex Turner. ¡Puede parecer “random”, pero me encanta su voz!”
13. A fun fact. / Un dato curioso.
“I’m always hungry”.
“¡Siempre tengo hambre!”
14. Future plans in the music field. / Planes futuros en el ámbito musical.
“Finish recording my album and learn how to play the drums”.
“Terminar de grabar mi álbum y aprender a tocar batería.”
15. “Advices for young people that would like to dedicate to art. / Consejos a los jóvenes que se quieren dedicar al arte.”
“My advice for young people that would like to dedicate to art, is that they should do it because they feel like they couldn’t live without it, that they should do it because it runs in their veins. That’s when one do the best job. It’s not an easy career, it’s the opposite, they’ll find many people that doesn’t take it seriously and that will not believe in them. But if they truly believe in themselves, there will not be anyone that will discourage them!”.
“Mi consejo para los jóvenes que se quieren dedicar al arte, es que lo hagan porque sienten que no pueden vivir sin ello, que lo hagan porque corre por sus venas. Es cuando mejor trabajo uno hace. No es una carrera fácil, al contrario, en el camino uno se encuentra con muchas personas que no se lo toman en serio y no creen en uno. ¡Pero si de verdad creen en ellos, no hay quién los desmotive!”
