Hello, my lovelies! Today I bring you a post that will change the way you see yourself and others. I collaborated with Karla Michelle from Blossom Body to show you that you don’t have to “fit” the beauty standards to be beautiful.

I’ve been fat all my life, yeah, fat, with all its letters. I’ve never been offended by that word, because things are called by their names, and because of my ‘standardized’ and actual weight, I’m overweight.
Toda mi vida he sido gorda, sí, gorda con sus cinco letras. Nunca me he ofendido por la palabra, porque las cosas se llaman por su nombre, y de acuerdo a mi peso ‘estandarizado’ y mi peso actual, realmente estoy sobrepeso.
But I’m not here for that, I’m here for how we, fat people, dress. It’s very common, in our society, that fat people are covered all the time. Long jeans, blouses without cleavage and so on. Because you guys already know, there are closed minded people waiting around the corner for the perfect moment to degrade you. This, primarily affects women, and it’s them that suffer this finger pointing every single day. I know this for a fact, because I went through it, I go through it and because I’ve seen it happen to people close to me.
Pero a lo que voy, no es a eso, sino a como nos vestimos los gordos. Es muy común, en nuestra sociedad, que los gordos anden todo el tiempo tapados. Mahones largos, camisas sin escotes, entre otros. Ya que como saben, están las mentes cerradas a la vuelta de la esquina, esperando al blanco perfecto para degradarlo. Esto, afecta mayormente a la mujer y es ella quien sufre este ‘señalamiento’ a diario. Me consta porque lo pasé, lo paso y he visto personas cercanas a mí también pasar por eso.
Nevertheless, people have been asking (specially women) : “Where do you find clothes?” “Where do you take courage to dress like that?” or they tell me, “I’d love to be as confident as you are!” That’s where I start my whole life speech. “You make the clothes”, yes, it sounds like a slogan from a campaign where everything is perfect, but the truth is that it is like that.
Sin embargo, últimamente las personas (mayormente mujeres) me preguntan: “¿Dónde consigues ropa? ¿Cómo sacas el valor para ponerte esa ropa?” o me dicen, “¡Quisiera ser tan atrevida como tú!” Es entonces donde comienzo mi ‘speech’ de toda la vida. “La ropa la haces tú”, sí, suena a un ‘slogan’ de una campaña donde todo es perfecto pero la realidad es que es así.
I will give you an example, put on an outfit that you feel confiden, look at yourself in the mirror and ask: “What type of comments come out of my mind?”. Now, find something that you’ve never wore before like a bodysuit that shows off your back. Even if you’re not sure, walk and look at yourself in the mirror. “What type of comments come out of your mind?” Are they comments like: “Eww, look at those rolls on my back”, “Look at my stretch marks”, “I need to lose weight”, or the worst one, “What would people say?”, then my friend, you’re the problem and not the outfit.
Te daré un ejemplo, colócate un “outfit” con el cual te sientas segura, mírate al espejo y pregúntate: “¿Qué comentarios salen de mi mente?”. Ahora bien, busca algo que nunca hayas usado, por ejemplo: un ‘bodysuit’ con un escote en la espalda. Aunque no estés segura, camina con el y mírate al espejo. “¿Qué comentarios salen de TU mente?”; si son comentarios como: “Uy, mira esos chichos”,”Mira se notan las estrías”,”Tengo que rebajar” y mucho peor, “¿Qué dirá la gente?”, entonces amiga, el problema eres TU y no el ‘outfit’.
YOU make the clothes; with your attitude, your confidence, your desires to take risks and beat all those beauty standards. Or do you like to be tied to what every social media says or sells? NO, YOU are different! You are a woman with a lot of potential, you’re a rational being, with her own decisions, free of prejudice and stereotypes.
La ropa la haces TU; con tu actitud, tu seguridad, tus ganas de arriesgarte y romper con los estándares. ¿O te gusta estar atada a lo que TODOS los medios sociales dicen o venden? ¡NO, TU eres diferente! Eres una mujer con mucho potencial, eres un ser pensante, con decisiones propias, libre de prejuicios y esteriotipos.
Start to value yourself. Give your body the value it deserves, start to adore it and to care for if. It will be with you your whole life. When are you going to let it be? Expose it and show it to the world! We were born like that, naked. Don’t let anything stop you from wearing a two piece swim suit or a crop top that shows your rolls. If you want to wear it, do it. You’ll never regret the feeling of ‘freedom’ that you get when you break the chains of the ‘norm’ and when someone stops you and says: “You look great”, you’ll know that it’s not because of your outfit, but for your CONFIDENCE.
Comienza a valorarte y date tu lugar. Dale el lugar que se merece a tu cuerpo, comienza a adorarlo y a mimarlo. El estará contigo toda tu vida. ¿Cuándo piensas dejarlo ser? ¡Exponlo y muéstralo al mundo! Nacimos así, desnudos. Que nada te detenga de ponerte el traje de baño de dos piezas o el ‘crop top’ que enseña tus chichos. Si te lo deseas poner, hazlo.
Nunca te arrepentirás de esa sensación de ‘libertad’ que sientes cuando rompes las cadenas de la ‘norma’ y cuando alguien te detenga y te diga “¡Que bien te vez!”, te darás cuenta que no es por tu ‘outfit’ sino por tu SEGURIDAD. – 🌸KM🌸
